The Mango Tree Ilha Grande

Brand new for 2013, the Mango Tree now has a sister hostel in Ilha Grande. Set on a quiet side street 50m from Abraao beach our new hostel offers an unbeatable location close to the waterfront and a short walk from the bars and restaurants.
The hostel has a chalet style reception area with a covered deck for breakfast. There are eight private ensuite rooms with double bed, sleeping up to 3 people. All our rooms have air-conditioning, ceiling fans, sprung mattresses and mini fridge.
Come and relax in a hammock with a cold beer or fire up the bbq and enjoy the amazing beauty of this chilled out island. Ilha Grande offers amazing hiking in the rainforests, day trips to far flung beaches, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking and plenty of restaurants serving the fresh catch of the day.
All double ensuite rooms with AC, fan and mini fridge. Some rooms have an extra pullout bed and can accommodate a third person. Sprung mattresses, cotton sheets and towels are provided
Reception & Breakfast Area
We are located shortly before the end of Rua Getulio Vargas, 15m along a short dead-end street in the right, under the pink bougainvillea. We are close to the end of the street in a quiet spot where you will be able to find a good night's sleep. We are 50m from Praia do Canto where you will find a variety of beachfront bars and restaurants serving the best available caipirinhas.
How to reach us
From Rio de Janeiro, take the Easy Transfer to Aquario hostel which is a short walk along the beach to the Mango Tree. Transfers can be booked at the Mango Tree in Ipanema, and depart from there daily around 11:00am. If you would like to make your own way there, you can take a boat from Conceicao de Jacarei or Angra to Abraao pier and walk along Rua do Getulio Vargas until the last sharp left turn to the beach.
Ask at reception for a range of boat trips to Lopes Mendes, Lagoa Azul and around the island. Scuba diving and kayak hire are also available on request.
At present we do not accept credit cards. You will need to ensure you have sufficient cash to pay for your stay when you arrive. There are no ATM's on Ilha Grande.
