The Mango Tree is located in a rare and beautifully renovated 1930´s colonial style house one block from Ipanema Beach. The property is one of the few surviving former family houses in the area and where possible all the original features such as the parquet flooring, stained glass windows and wooden shutters, have been preserved

We have eight private bedrooms: three triples with ensuite, two doubles with ensuite and three doubles with shared bathrooms. All private bedrooms have air conditioning and ceiling fans, sprung mattresses and 100% cotton sheets. In the winter, when temperatures can drop to a frosty 15°C, extra covers are provided.

Three of the dormitory rooms are for six people and one sleeps eight. Our dormitory bunks are made from solid wood with lockable drawers underneath large enough to hold a backpack. Separate lockers are available at reception for valuables, please bring your own padlock, preferably one with a combination. For greater comfort we only have double bunks, and not the triples you may find elsewhere. Two of the dormitory rooms have air conditioning and ceiling fans, and two have fans only.

Alternatively, we have the “Pombal” a private dorm room with a single bunk bed that sleeps two. Ideal for couples on a budget.

There are four communal bathrooms (separate men and women’s) with 6 showers and 5 toilets in total. Towels are provided for all our guests.

We also have a television room with a wide-screen TV, SKY and a DVD player for rainy days, and a separate sitting room for you to relax in. The house is set on a 500m2 plot, which means we have plenty of outdoor space with a deck, hammocks, bbq area and garden where you can pick fresh mangoes when in season.
